Hometown Heritage — the Canal Fulton Quilt from Quilting with Kimberly

If you’re a subscriber to American Quilter Magazine, I invite you to read my Stray Threads column in the January, 2022 issue. This particular article is near and dear to my heart because I was able to share the story of my incredible chance encounter with a special quilt in the museum in my hometown of Canal Fulton, Ohio.

The backstory

I took my husband to visit Canal Fulton during their annual summer carnival, Canal Days, last July. We visited the museum and while there, I saw a beautiful quilt hanging on the wall depicting the history, important buildings ...

A new adventure and a favor from Quilting with Kimberly

I’ve been away from posting on my blog and and I’ve missed sharing updates. But there has been a good reason for my absence: we’ve been making some life-changing decisions about our future.

Four years ago, my sweet husband was offered the opportunity to take on a new challenge with a large defense contractor and we moved from Northern Virginia to Southern California. At the time, we hoped we might be able to stay here until it would be time for him to retire (8 years from now) from his full-time career as an IT specialist. We ...

A very special day from Quilting with Kimberly

Happy Anniversary!

April 1st is a very meaningful day for a variety of reasons. First and most importantly, it was three years ago today I became the National Spokesperson for Janome-America, Inc. In my 25+ years in this industry this is one of the biggest honors I could ever have dared to dream; and it is a roll I cherish very much! Janome is a company I believe in down to my core for their products manufactured with the highest quality materials and engineering, and for their ease of use and responsiveness — and attention — to their customers.

But it is ...

Come quilt the SEASONS with me! from Quilting with Kimberly

I’m thrilled to introduce my newest quilt, SEASONS, to you!

Designed and sewn by Kimberly Einmo. Machine quilted by Lisa Calle.

This cheery quilt has been in the making for almost two years! I spent a lot of time working on the design of this quilt and then actually sewing it; but I couldn’t share much of my progress with you except for occasional “sneak peeks.” To finally be able to unveil this quilt to you is something I’ve dreamed of for the longest time!

SEASONS will be featured as the 2021 series quilt in American Quilter ...

The real story behind the money shot from Quilting with Kimberly

I hinted I had a new quilt in the works back in February. As I pieced the blocks, I posted a few sneak peeks.

After I finished the quilt top, I shared a picture of it in my rearranged studio during the early weeks of the pandemic.

Then I sent the quilt top to my very talented friend, Birgit Schuller, and she frosted it with her exquisite machine quilting! It was wonderful to work with her again on a quilt (thank you so much, Birgit!) When I received the quilt back from her, I was thrilled; but I still needed ...

My own notions caddy in a coffee cup!

In the January, 2020 issue of AQ Magazine, my column was entitled, “At your fingertips” and featured my personal favorite notions caddy, which I keep right next to my sewing machine. In the column, I listed each notion ...
